A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 12/Noon at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Rd., in Springvale.
James J. Krause, 86, a longtime resident of Springvale, died peacefully with his family by his side on November 10, 2017, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.
James was born of April 21, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts and was the son of Otto and Mary Krause.
James and his wife, Ellen (Phillips) Krause would have celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary on November 23rd. They were best friends and soulmates to one another.
James served in the United States Navy from 1951 – 1954 during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Thomas W. Bazemore # 19 DAV Chapter in Sanford and was proud to serve on the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery Committee. For many years, James taught hunter safety courses and belonged to the Sanford Fish & Game. He and Ellen enjoyed many camping trips in northern Maine.
James worked for years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the painting department. He was a valued co-worker and a friend and mentor to many just starting their careers.
James will be dearly missed by his wife, Ellen Krause and by his brother-in-law, Albert Phillips and many other relatives; along with his friends who served in the military.
