A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., in Sanford followed by committal prayers with military honors at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Rd., in Springvale.

 

Carroll J. Hodgdon, 85, of Sanford, died on December 11, 2017, surrounded in love by his family, at his home in Sanford. He had battled cancer for over 12 years and fought the good fight with courage and grace.

Carroll was born in Portland on November 23, 1932, the son of Walter E. and Helen A. (Strout) Hodgdon, Jr.

Mr. Hodgdon was a wonderful Husband, and a loving Father, Grand Father and Great Grandfather. His humor entertained everyone he met. He has gone home and lives with his Savior, in whose atonement and resurrection he has hope of immortality and eternal life. In loving memory, we celebrate his life.

Carroll served his country for over 32 years in the Army National Guard and Air Force during the Korean, Vietnam, and Cold Wars. He was a 100% disabled veteran.

Carroll is survived by his loving wife, Huguette P. Hodgdon, his brother, Calvin W. Hodgdon, his daughter, Carol Simone Carlson (late husband Jim), his sons, Kenneth Michael Hodgdon and Gary Joseph Hodgdon; Carol and Jim’s family includes: Kaththea Stone, Christopher and Christie (Davis), and Charlie and Carley (Mullen). Ken and Peggy’s (Olsen) family includes Christopher and Eva (Higgins), and their children, William, Alana, and Xavier; Kimberly Hodgdon; Kaelan and Allison Jasmine (Speir); and Jonathan, Dallin, and Sarah Hodgdon; Gary and Louise’s (Saucier) family includes Nathan and Sarah (Houle) and their children, Aubrey and Silas.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., in Sanford followed by committal prayers with military honors at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Rd., in Springvale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
