Nathan T. (Nate) McCoy, at the tender age of 40, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland, on February 6, 2018. Nate knew he was loved by his family and by his firemen family.

Nate was born in Sanford on September 7, 1977 the beloved son of Duane and Rosemary (Waterhouse) McCoy. He was raised in Waterboro and was a graduate of Massabesic High School, Class of 1995.

Nate’s home was a stone’s throw away from the Waterboro Fire Station; following in his Dad’s footsteps, Nate joined the Jr. Fireman program from the age of 14 to when he turned 18 years old. At that time he stepped to the plate and obtained his Firefighting One status. He took call on many occasions and drove the ambulance. He progressed up through the ranks and served as Captain. Nate believed in giving back to his community that he called home and loved. I guess you could say that Nate immersed himself into the fire department. At times he could be stubborn and opinionated, but he always wanted what was best for his family and friends.

Nate worked for the Town of Waterboro Public Works Department for the past three years, and had also worked for the Town of Wells. He was a truck driver for Foglio Incorporation in his hometown. Nate was a true homebody; he didn’t venture out too far and spoiled his two cats, Mr. and Mrs. Kitty. He was a faithful Red Sox fan and Nate held a special place in his heart for his Nana.

Nate was strong and very active before his respiratory system became compromised. He was surrounded by his family and many of his firefighter friends; with their love, prayers and words of encouragement and hope.  Nate was called to his eternal home in heaven. . . He is not suffering, his soul and his body are renewed in faith and he has been welcomed by his Nana and others who have gone before.  Our beloved son will not be forgotten and we cherish his memory until we meet again.

He is lovingly survived by his parents, Duane and Rosemary McCoy of Waterboro; his only sister, Jody Robinson and husband Timothy of No. Waterboro; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends from his firefighting family.
