Pamela S. Orcutt, 75, a lifelong resident of Waterboro, died at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, on February 7, 2018.
Pamela was born on November 7, 1942 the daughter of Raymond L. and Delma W. (Knight) Smith. She grew up in a home with lots of love, laughter and fun with her two sisters, Gail and Mary. They shared the three story farmhouse with her grandparents in East Waterboro; where the new Goodall Health Clinic stands. As a youngster, she began attending the East Waterboro Baptist Church which had been the family church for generations.
Pam graduated from Sanford High School in 1961 and then attended Gray’s Business College in Portland, where she also taught classes following her graduation. It was here she met her future husband, David. Pam did secretarial work for Bob McAuliffe Builders before joining Kasprzak, Inc. from which she retired in 2010.
Pam married David S. Orcutt in 1964 and together they loved and nurtured three children, Brian, Cheryl and Michael. When David passed at such a young age in 1978, Pam became both Mom & Dad to her children. With support from her family and the Waterboro community, Pam was very proud that each of her children grew into such hardworking, kind and responsible adults. It was also well known at this time that the Orcutt home was the place to be for free food, fun and advice!
Pamela was vivacious and loved to laugh. She rooted for the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. She loved visiting David’s family on Swan’s Island for the past 55 years. Pam was loyal to a fault and yet occasionally her stubborn streak would come out.
In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters and she would never miss an opportunity to go on the Ladies retreats with her church family. She and her friend Nancy looked forward to staying overnight in Freeport each fall. Pam was very proud to become a volunteer with the SMHC Urgent Care in Waterboro on Tuesdays from 7 – 11 a.m. She could put her friends and neighbors at ease with her kindness and beautiful smile.
Pam was a woman of faith, independence and strength. She shared her faith by doing for others. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished by her family and many friends.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Brian Orcutt and wife Deanna; her daughter, Cheryl Orcutt and her son Michael Orcutt and wife Suzanne. She was Nana or Nan to six special grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her two sisters, Gail Woodsome and husband Andrew; Mary Sanborn and husband David; and her sister-in-law, Jane and husband Clay Savage; along with several nieces and nephews, several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
