It is with great sadness that the family of Marcel R. Gagnon announces his passing after a long battle with dementia on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the age of 82.

He was born on May 13, 1936, a son of Mathias and Marie Blanche (Longchamps) Gagnon. Marcel was married to Rose (Doiron) Gagnon for 46 years before her death in 2006. Marcel proudly served in the United States Army.

Family was a large part of his enjoyment; he enjoyed camping, fishing, horseshoes, washer toss and any moment when he was surrounded by family.  Marcel enjoyed playing the organ, harmonica, violin, among other instruments. Until he could no longer do so he would take walks up and down Main Street in Sanford daily.  He enjoyed riding his scooter around town and taking trips to Lewiston to visit family. He was also an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. Marcel was a devoted Catholic and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus  member.

Marcel will be lovingly remembered by his son Rene Gagnon and wife Lisa of Sanford; his daughter Cindy Downs and husband Dean of Shapleigh; his son Marc Gagnon and wife Joanne of Shapleigh; and his son Kevin Gagnon and wife Penny of Middleton, NH. His grandchildren, Ashley Downs, Ryan Gagnon, Aaron Downs, Mathias Gagnon and great-grandchildren, Leah Stone, Kaylee Stone, Autumn Downs, his sister, Carmen Hebert of Lewiston and brother Gilbert Gagnon of Lisbon.
