Service Date: November 28, 2018

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford.

Ernest G. Beauchesne, 70, a longtime resident of Sanford, most recently living in Lebanon with his son Thomas, died on Saturday, November 24, 2018, surrounded in love by his best friend and mother of his children, Elaine and their two sons, Thomas and Zachary.

Ernest was born in Sanford on July 14, 1948, the son of Donald and Theresa (Tanguay) Beauchesne. He was a 1966 Sanford High School graduate.

Ernie was known to be a “Jack of All Trades” – and had many job opportunities, many he started and was very proud of. He built homes and owned his own sheet rocking business. For many years he worked as Supervisor and Pipe fitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was the Chief Steward for seven years. He also drove two vans for the locals who car pooled to work each week.

Ernie was very sociable and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He loved going to Jerry’s Diner where he met many of his friends and frequently ordered liver and onions for dinner. He was an outdoors enthusiast; each fall he would go deer hunting with his son, Tom and in 1991 Ernie was tickled pink when he bagged his 900 pound moose, with his brother-in-law and best friend Walt.

Ernie enjoyed tinkering with his one stroke engines and traveling for the different shows on the weekends. Ernest was a devote Catholic and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He was also a member of the Elks.  Ernie will be dearly missed by his family and has now entered into eternal rest.

Ernest is lovingly survived by his best friend and mother of his children, Elaine Beauchesne of Sanford; his two sons, Thomas Beauchesne of Lebanon; his granddaughter, Hannah Beauchesne of Richmond, Vermont; Zachary Beauchesne and wife Sarah Beckwith of Broomfield, Colorado; his Aunt and Godmother, Helene Arsenault of Deerfield Beach, Florida; his two uncles, Lionel and Leon Tanguay of Sanford; his sister-in-law, Carol Hooper and husband James of Aspen, Colorado; his brother-in-law, Robert Cantin and wife Debbie of Sanford and his brother-in-law, Michael Cantin of Atlanta, Georgia; many cousins and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., in Sanford.

Ernie received expert care, love and kindness from the staff and special team of caregivers: Mike, Jason, Jay, Wendy, Stacia and Allison with Southern Maine Hospice. Our family will be forever grateful.
