Kenneth D. Martin, Jr. (Moonshine) 74, a longtime resident of No. Waterboro, died on May 7, 2019 at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford, following several months of declining health. Always the optimist, Ken regained strength, fortitude and with his sheer Irish heritage, he fought the good fight time and again.

Kenneth was born on May 16, 1944 in Belfast, Ireland the son of Kenneth D. and Rosanna (McCombs) Martin, Sr. As a baby, his family moved the United States to gain employment and he was raised with his brother Eric and sister Erin. Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 – 1964. He often shared the story that as he was getting done his tour of duty in Germany, the great Elvis Presley was on his way across the pond!

Ken married his sweetheart 51 years ago, Beverly Tuttle, and together they made a loving and fun home with Beverly’s two boys, Jeff and Jamie and welcomed a third son, Kelly Patrick, into their hearts and home. The three boys kept both Ken and Beverly busy with school activities, sports and the many adventures that youngsters enjoy. They went trout fishing, camping at Sebago Lake and build up their muscles cutting the yearly firewood. Ken was a very quiet guy, but he loved having cook-outs, having family and friends in for a party and sharing his homemade ‘Moonshine’.  Ken was a good cook and could hold his own in the kitchen.

Ken was a dedicated and hard- working man. He was employed as a metal finisher through-out his working career. But, when he was home, he was Dad with a jolly disposition and softie with his dog, Ginger.  He and Beverly renewed their vows in a home ceremony on their 30th wedding anniversary.

Ken was a man of principle, believed in providing for his family and loved his wife and family deeply. He lived a simple life, yet gave generously without a fault and has now been called home, where he can rest in eternal peace.

He is lovingly survived by his beautiful wife, Beverly Martin of No. Waterboro; his three sons, Kelly Patrick Martin of Waterboro; Jeff Lord and wife Wendy of Sanford and Jamie Lord of Waterboro; was a devoted Grandpa to Ryan and Ashley; and also survived by his sister, Erin Martin and by one niece.

Kenneth was predeceased by his parents and brother, Eric Martin.
