Ronald R. Frith, Jr.
June 24, 1951 - February 2, 2015
A Celebration of Ron's life will be held later in the spring and will be announced.
Ronald R. Frith, Jr., 63, died suddenly at his home on February 2, 2015 in Sanford.
Ron was born in Biddeford on June 24, 1951 the son of Ronald R. and Lorraine (Bedard) Frith, Sr. and was raised and educated in Sanford. Ron was a graduated of Sanford High School and went to college at the University of Maine in Farmington, where he received his bachelor’s degree in teaching. He taught at the Sanford Jr. High School and then pursued a job as an instructor at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was employed for over 20 years.
Ron was an active and fun-loving guy. He was generous to a fault and possessed a heart of gold when it came to his family and grandchildren. His favorite holiday was Christmas and people would say, “Ron was Santa Claus in his other life!” Living in Maine did not stop him from being a New York Giants Fan! Yes, he still rooted for the “other” New England sports teams.
Ron was not defined by his mode of transportation in his wheelchair – He was out and about visiting his neighbors and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and his family made sure he could still enjoy being out in the woods. Ron met his wife Linda in 1998 when he was receiving treatments at Maine Medical in Portland. When he was able to come home, he was adamant that he bring his prized afghan that Linda had given to him; of course it was made with love and he could still smell Linda’s perfume in the yarn.
Ron lived each day with grace and with an extra ordinary amount of patience – “Don’t sweat the small stuff, he’d say.” He loved his cat Grace and his four legged fury friends, the pugs. They provide comic relief when needed and asked nothing in return. He enjoyed trips to Florida with his family and exploring Epcot Center. Ron, you are now free! You can run, swim, drive a car and join others you have yearned to see again. We Will Be Okay! And, you will be forever cherished and loved by your family and the many friends who had the good fortune of knowing you.
Survivors include his mother, Lorraine Frith of Freedom, NH; his wife Linda of Sanford; his two sons, Adam Frith and wife Janice Springvale and Robert Frith and wife Tammi of Shapleigh; his stepchildren, Steven M. Earley and companion Jess Jayne of Sanford and Scott A.
