A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Curtis Lake Church, 38 Westview Drive, in Sanford.
Richard (Rick) A. Leach, 61, a longtime resident of Alfred and beloved Pastor at Curtis Lake Church, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 6, 2015.
He was born on May 25, 1954 in Biddeford the son of Edward and Dorothy (Goodrich) Leach and was raised in Lyman, attended and graduated from Massabesic High School, Class of 1972. Rick served in the United States Air Force from 1973 – 1976 and worked in the warehouse at Folsom’s Furniture Store in Alfred for over 18 years. In 1974, Rick married his sweetheart and soul mate, Holly Folsom on June 29th at the Alfred Parish Church.
Following a call to serve in the ministry, Rick was a beloved Pastor and Director of Care Ministry for 23 years at Curtis Lake Church.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and counselor. His testament of faith and love was often seen is his interactions with his family, congregation and community. His love for his family could be seen in his interactions with his kids and grandkids. He was a role model husband and father for not only his family, but many he mentored throughout his ministry.
His gift of loving those that had tragically lost a loved one or work with a family through the process of dying was carried out with care and compassion. He loved anyone he came in contact with and he would often say if he could out a smile on someone’s face it was a good day.
He had a servant’s heart and was described often as a person of selfless nature. His love and compassion was given through his ministry to churched and unchurched people. He established a Celebrate Recovery program where people who are struggling with hurts, habits, and hang-ups could get support through a faith based program.
He was an avid Patriot’s fan never missing an opportunity to support the team.
Rick is survived by his wife, Holly Leach of Alfred; his children, Matthew Leach and wife Hannah of Alfred; Ben Leach and wife Briana of Ozark, MO; and Sarah Rodriguez and husband Kevin of Portland; his six grandchildren, Gabbi Leach, Kason Leach, Jace Leach, Dalton Leach, Lilah Rodriguez, and Meadow Leach; his parents, Edward and Dot Leach of Lyman; one brother, Mike Leach and wife Sherry of Lyman; his sister, Pat Littlefield and husband Art of Lyman; and his sister Sue Black and husband Lon of Lyman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, Dec. 11th from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Curtis Lake Church, 38 Westview Dr., in Sanford followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Curtis Lake Church in support of its Celebrate Recovery ministry, which Pastor Rick led and was so passionate about.
