A Graveside Service will be held for Marguerite and Carmine on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, in Springvale.
Marguerite Jeannette “Blondie” Mazza passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side.
Marguerite was born in Sanford on June 14, 1924 the daughter of George Earl Chick and Kathleen Ringer Chick. She grew up in the Woodman-Wakefield NH area and attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. Marguerite served in the Armed Forces as a nurses’ aid, and during that time met her husband, Carmine Mazza. After her service in the Army, Marguerite and Carmine moved to Westchester County, NY, where they lived and raised their seven children. Marguerite worked as a private nurse taking care of the elderly. She returned to Maine in 1968 and worked at Jagger Mills until her retirement. Upon retirement in the early 80’s, Marguerite and her family moved to Newfield.
Marguerite was a very active member in her family. She was always there to help in any way she could. Her home was always open to those in need. Her kindness and generosity were there for all and she was well loved by those who knew her. Marguerite held an annual celebration every Labor Day for all those who knew her or were in any way a part of her life. Marguerite, and her daughter Linda, were the sponsors of the MazBoyz softball team for a number of years. She also sponsored youth basketball and golf under the MazBoyz name. All the players loved and respected her. She was known as “Ma” to all.
Marguerite loved to travel and visit family and friends and her trips were always a good time.
Marguerite and Carmine had eight children; Carmine, Kathy, Philip, Mary, Stephen, Linda, Barbara and Tony. Marguerite had 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmine, of 64 years, and her eldest daughter, Carmine.
A Graveside Service with military honors for both Marguerite and Carmine will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, in Springvale.
Marguerite was a volunteer and benefactor of the York County Shelter Programs, Inc. for 20+ years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the York County Shelter Programs, Inc., PO Box 820, Alfred, Maine 04002.
