A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Baptist Church, 285 Maple St., in North Berwick. Following the service, you are all invited to a luncheon and fellowship with family and friends.

Charles (Charlie) W. Parker, Jr., 94, a longtime resident of North Berwick, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on July 19, 1921 the son of Charles W. and Irene (Phinney) Parker, Sr. He graduated from Stoneham High School, Class of 1941 and attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture at Massachusetts State College; where he studied Animal Husbandry, specializing in Dairy Farming.

Charlie served with the United States Army from 1944 – 1947 with the 3195th Signal Service Company in Italy during World War II. Upon his return to the States, Charlie met and married Marjorie P. Sisson on April 20, 1951 and made their home on the farm in North Berwick.  Charlie worked as a welder at Hussey Manufacturing for 30 plus years and served on different committees within the company and was known to take on special orders when needed.

Charlie believed in giving back to his community and served 21 years with the William Hill Engine Company # 2, including seven years as Secretary and Treasurer; including ten years on the Executive Committee. During the formation of SAD 60, Charlie served two terms on the Budget Committee for the Town of North Berwick. Charlie was a Charter Member of New Covenant Baptist Church, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Building Committee.

Charlie was an ardent gardener who took great pride in his strawberry patches and his fresh peas for the Fourth of July. He was one of the first organic gardeners in the area and he loved working in the soil and watching plants develop. But first and foremost, Charlie loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlie was an honorable man who lived his life simply with great faith and strong family values. He will be dearly missed by his family, his church community and his many friends from the town.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marjorie S. Parker; his three children, Susan P. Ferguson, David C. Parker and Janet M. Ferry; his four grandchildren, Zachary D. Ferry, Becky Ann Anthoine, Brett T. Ferry and Leslie D. Parker; his four great grandchildren, Mason, Charlie, Parker and Violet; his sister, Ruth L. Gale and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Baptist Church, 285 Maple Street, in North Berwick. Following the service, you are all invited to a luncheon and fellowship with family and friends.
