A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred, Maine. You may visit with Dickie's family following the service.

Richard P. “Dickie” Chiappa, 65, of Lyman, Maine formerly of Charlestown, Massachusetts entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a brief illness.

Dickie was born in Boston on November 9, 1951, a son of the late Peter J. and Mary “Billie” (Degnan) Chiappa. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public school system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Dickie worked as a laborer for most of his life starting out as a custodian for St Catherine’s of Sienna Parish in Charlestown and moving on to Brockway Smith where he worked in the warehouse for over 20 years and most recently as a painter for Northeast Painting in South Berwick, Maine.

Dickie enjoyed walking, golfing and working with his hands and was always willing to help anyone with a project. Dickie also loved being a Papa to his four grandchildren and hanging with his cat Buddy who provided comic relief and constant companionship.

Dickie will be missed by his family and his close friends. He loved living in Maine and being able to enjoy all four seasons living on Bunganut Lake.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Steven Chiappa and Christine Nugent; and the mother of his children, Mary Allen Chiappa; He is the loving Papa to his grandchildren Billy, Corey, Madison and Steven and his great granddaughter Peyton. He is the beloved brother of James O’Neil and wife Linda and Don Fessden; and his late sister, Mary Lou Cerolia; and many nieces and nephews.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred. You are invited to visit with Dickie’s family following the service and enjoy light refreshments.
