A private family service will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Hingham, MA followed by a public celebration of life gathering at the Weymouth Elks from 1 - 5 p.m., the Elks are located at 1197 Washington St., East Weymouth, MA.

Daniel Michael Yotts, Jr., 62, of Sanford, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

He was born in Hampton, Virginia on February 4, 1955; Dan was the first child of Daniel Michael Yotts, Sr. and Anne “Nancy” Marie (Giacobbe) Yotts.

Growing up in Southie, Dano loved hockey and the Sea Scouts. He attended Boston Tech and BU where he studied Occupational Therapy, before joining the Marine Corps.

In 1987 Dan moved to Sanford with his family and fell in love with Maine – where he raised his two children Michael and Samantha. He enjoyed reading, science fiction, astronomy, and gardening of all kinds.

In recent years, Elizabeth “Liz” Laitres had been Dan’s wonderful and loving companion. Together they shared in Dan’s passion for animals and gardening.

Dan is survived by his son, Michael and wife Lindsay; his daughter, Samantha; his parents, Daniel and Nancy; his siblings, brother Tom and wife Maureen; sister Diane Perella and husband Mario; and brother Joe and wife Claire. He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles, Peg and Ted DiNanno; Veronica and Gerald Silverman; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his long-time partner, Liz Laitres.

He is predeceased by his uncle, Edward Yotts, and aunt, Catherine Quinlan.

A private, family service will be held this Sunday, April 9th in Hingham, Massachusetts, followed by a public celebration of life gathering at the Weymouth Elks from 1:00 p.m. until 5 p.m., The Elks are located at 1197 Washington St, East Weymouth, Massachusetts.
