Richard D. Carlin, 85, a resident of Springvale, died peacefully with his family by his side, on May 25, 2017 at the Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Richard was born on May 20, 1932 in Somerville, Massachusetts the son of George F. and Leona B. (Legere) Carlin.

Richard was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War, with distinction.

With his gift of gab and great sense of humor, he made many friends through-out his career as a salesman. Richard was a devoted husband and he and his wife Rose were blessed with four children and welcomed grandchildren and great grandchildren into their ever growing family. Richard enjoyed Irish music and was a longtime John Wayne fan. He was an avid reader, especially thrillers and legal mysteries.

Richard and Rose worked side by side pouring and firing many different ceramic keepsakes. They enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, “pulling the one-armed bandits” and spending time with their family. Richard loved to go fishing and was a political fan, especially discussing history and current events. Since the passing of his dear wife Rose in 2012, Richard has said, “Yes” more times than not, whether you invited him out to dinner or a drive down by the beach; he want to be enjoying family get togethers.

Richard has entered into eternal rest and will be dearly missed by his family which includes his children, Charles (Chuck) Carlin and wife Sandra of Sanford; George Carlin and wife Helena of Methuen, MA; Kathleen Farah of Seabrook, NH; and Steven Carlin and wife Katherine of Tewksbury, MA; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Gagne of Boxborough, MA; and a large extended family that he loved.
