Roger E. Palmer, 57, beloved husband and father, died unexpectedly at his home in Rochester, New Hampshire on August 21, 2017.

Roger was born on February 3, 1960 in Dover, New Hampshire the son of Omer L. and Sheila R. (Peed) Palmer. He was raised in So. Berwick, ME and Rollinsford, NH and graduated from Somersworth High School. Roger was the consummate older brother; he was the problem solver with his brother, Travis and like superman with his sister Becky. Their daily routines were full of fun and adventure!

Roger served in the U.S. Army for four years and upon his return to New England, he worked as a D.J. at a local radio station. With his interest in electronics and his vast collection of music; he worked the late night shift and his fans would call in with requests and discuss current issues of the day. His future wife, April P. Dinsmore called in one night – from there they met and began dating. They married at the Elks Lodge in Sanford on December 24, 1992 and four years later, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Rachel into their hearts and lives. Both Roger and April made sure one of them would be home to care for Rachel, working opposite shifts if need be. Roger has been a valued and dedicated employee with Wal Mart, working many years in their vast electronic division within the store.

Roger was a self-educated man with a wide range of interests and hobbies which included history, genealogy, music, trivia and video games. He was a discerning collector of baseball cards and coins. Roger loved a good debate with his infamous sense of humor and sarcasm when he held court; especially concerning today’s politics.

Roger’s first love and sweetheart became his best friend. . . They were united in their values and how they raised Rachel. He was kindhearted, funny, and spirited in life. Both he and April just recently enjoyed Cape Breton Island, in Canada. They made many memories as a family when they went to Disney World.

Roger’s untimely passing has left a huge hole within his family’s heart. But, as Roger was a survivor of cancer, He would want them to support and nurture each other through this time of change and growth. And, to remember that a healthy debate needs a good dose of humor!

He is lovingly released back to God by his wife, April Palmer and daughter Rachel of Rochester, NH; his father, Omer Palmer and wife Jenny of Indiana; his sister, Becky Wooley and husband Mark of New Castle, NH; his brother, Travis Palmer and wife Andrea of Sanford; his two half-sisters, Sandy Gutherie and husband Todd and Beth May and husband David, both of Indiana; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his mother, Sheila Gray.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alfred Parish Church, 12 Kennebunk Rd., in Alfred followed by a reception in the parish hall next to the church. Committal prayers and burial will be at Chadbourne Cemetery in Lyman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northern New England Region, 2 Commerce Dr., Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
