Captain Noell T. Redman, 50, of Alfred, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home in the loving arms of his wife.
Father, Husband and Son, Noell was so much more than that. He was our hero; best friend, our rock, and the spirit that makes us all feel safe no matter the situation. He taught us all how to love, and he taught us well as he wrapped the gift of patience and kindness in the warmth of his love. We still feel this love; we know we are not alone. We miss you, but we know you are here with us.
In the words of his son, Maximus, “He was the best father that anyone could ever hope to have. When we were hurt, he knew how to make us feel better and absorb our pain. He was great at everything and taught us how to do everything that we know.”
There is no single quality or action that can truly encapsulate Noell. He was gifted in all aspects of life, as he held great achievements in athletics, as a fisherman, hunter, father and husband. His talents were truly reflected in his self-owned and operated business of 24 years, Redman Marine Fabricators. Within his business he tackled great feats, such as designing a radar arch for jet skis and a custom windshield for Southport boats as well as his other standard designs. More of an artist than a fabricator, he translated his high “Redman standards” into all aspects of his life. Something his family became very familiar with as there were many times he would come home from a hunting trip and tell us he “passed up a deer because it was too small. There’s something bigger in there.”
Our happiness and our muse, his wife describes him as “the most kind-hearted man, willing to give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it. He had a love for his family greater than any love.”
Some of his fondest childhood memories that he shared with his family were of camp at Branch Lake with his cousins and his Uncle Danny and Aunt Lois. A place that he loved so dearly, he continued to take his family to the same lake nearly every summer.
Noell is survived by his wife, Dawn, his children, Sarah, Margaret, Maximus, Monica, his mother, Paulette Rideout and her husband Bill, his brother, Thayer, his wife Susan and their children Callum and Piper. He was preceded in death by his sister, Monica.
