Brenda L. Gray, 60, a longtime resident of Waterboro died unexpectedly at her home on October 25, 2017. She was loved and cherished by her family and her passing has left a huge hole within their hearts.
Brenda was born in Saco on May 13, 1957, the youngest child of Robert H. and Olive A. (Gammon) LaPage.
She lived her early years in Limerick, attending Limerick Elementary School and was a 1976 graduate of Massabesic High School. Brenda was very active in the youth group at Parsonsfield Baptist Church where she made many friends. Brenda was a great animal lover; she confiscated a rooster from the Staples farm next door, who she taught to ride on her bicycle handles and who also waited at the end of the driveway for her to get off the school bus every afternoon. Her love for animals began with her first dog Blackie and continued throughout her life with an assortment of dogs and cats. She also loved horseback riding and enjoyed taking lessons at Chamberlain Farms in Springvale. Brenda could be called an Animal Whisper – She connected with all the fury friends that needed a good home.
Brenda enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, ceramics, and needlepoint. She also found relaxation working in her flower gardens. She and her family loved to go camping, beginning the “Ole Fashioned Way” – with a tent and sleeping bags. They evidently grew into the comforts of a motorhome; which was packed and ready each Friday afternoon after work. Brenda worked in the Quality Control Department at Sprague’s for 25 years where she was a valued team member and friend to many of her co-workers.
Brenda’s greatest joys in life were her husband Raymond, her daughter Tracy, and her two grandchildren, Christopher (C.J.) and Tim (little T.) She gave generously of her time and helped nurture and raise her grandsons. She and Raymond met on a “blind date” – their commitment to one another was evident to all that knew them. Brenda was a GOOD WOMAN – in every sense of the word. She was a gem, strong on the outside, but tender and sweet on the inside. Brenda will be dearly missed and has entered into eternal peace.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 40 years, Raymond L. Gray and their daughter, Tracy Olive Gray of Waterboro; her two grandsons, Christopher and Tim; her sister, Jacqueline (Jackie) M. Campbell and husband Larry of Limerick; and her brother, Robert (Buster) H. LaPage, Jr. and wife Roberta of East Waterboro; her mother-in-law, Marion Gray of Waterboro; her Aunt Gladys L. Brackett of Cornish and her Uncle, Alton (Cub) Gammon of Limerick and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents and by her brother-in-law, Earl Gray.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the South Waterboro Bible Chapel, 911 Main St., in Waterboro with Pastor Dan Lambertson officiating. You may visit with Brenda’s family following the service. Committal prayers and burial will be private.
With Brenda’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.
