Edward Henry Ross, Jr., 81, of Lyman, passed away on August 12, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Edward was born in Lyman on January 8, 1937, the son of Edward H. and Rowena M. (Goodwin) Ross. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy, Class of 1955.

Ed worked as a York County Corrections Officer for many years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, woodworking and leather craft. Ed was also actively involved in several community organizations including the Masons, Grange (7th Degree) 4-H, Lyman Historical Committee, Acton Fair (Director) and Ossipee Valley Fair (Life Member) and served as a Selectman for the town of Lyman. Ed was on the Board of Directors and the building committee when Massabesic High School was being built.

Edward spent many winters camping in Texas where he met his partner Carol to escape the cold weather of Maine. Later, he and Carol decided to spend the winter months at her house in Iowa and the summer months in their camper in Maine. Ed will be dearly missed by his family.

Edward is survived by his sister Florence P. McCormick; his partner Carol A. Hanson; his three children, Brenda Dyer, Barbara Tremblay and husband Donald, Patricia Brown and husband Peter; four grandchildren, Leeann E. O’Neill and husband Justin, Nathan E. Cortright, Elissa R. Dyer, and Katelyn A. Lovejoy; one great granddaughter, Rylee A. Lovejoy; several nieces and nephews; as well as close friends.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Nancy R. Cortright and by his sister, Helen.
