Maureen L. “Mo” Menter, 60, of Sanford, died peacefully on September 19, 2018 surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
Maureen was born in Sanford on December 30, 1957, the daughter of Norman R. and Catherine (Kay) Collins Veroneau, Sr. Maureen was one of eight children and grew up in Sanford.
Maureen was the proud mother of two daughters, Laurie Menter and Shelly Menter-Williams and two wonderful grandchildren, Zachary Brown and Brianna Brown. Maureen shared her love and her heart with James Jeanette, her long-time partner.
Maureen had many interests which included playing Bingo, spending time going to lunch with her sisters, and her two daughters, Laurie and Shelly. Mo loved the companionship her cats, and throughout her life held a special place in her heart for animals. But first and foremost, Maureen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. It can be said that Mo had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her presence will certainly be missed.
Mo worked as a chef/cook at Sonny’s Variety in Lyman. Mo enjoyed meeting people and cooking comfort food for the customers.
Mo possessed a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed.
Maureen is survived by her daughters, Laurie Menter of Portland; Shelly Williams of Kennebunkport; her grandchildren, Zac & Bri Brown; her partner, Jim Jeanette of Sanford; her sisters, Margaret Braffitt of Sanford; Helen Gosselin of Shapleigh; Kathy LeBlanc of Springvale; Donna Hall of Wells; Joyce Veroneau of Sanford; and by one brother, Michael Veroneau of Sanford. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Norman R. and Catherine L. Veroneau, Sr., her brother, (Bobby) Norman R. Veroneau, Jr., her nephew, (David) Norman R. Veroneau, III and her great granddaughter, Aurora Haskell.
