January 1, 1936 - December 29, 2018
Janice and Janet will be buried together at Hope Cemetery later this spring. The Service will be announced.
Janice Lord, 82, a longtime resident of No. Berwick, died at her home on December 29, 2018.
Janice was a New Year’s baby, born on January 1, 1936 the daughter of George E. and Vitolia (Lobikis) Lord, Sr.
She was raised in Brownville and went to the University of Maine in Orono, graduating with the Class of 1958. Janice taught for 2 years in Quebec, Canada before she began a long career teaching math with SAD 60/Noble Jr. High School in Berwick, where she retired in 1983. She once again went into the classroom and taught for 3 years in the Rochester, NH school system before she went to one of her favorite jobs: working at Marden’s in Sanford.
In her later years, Miss Lord became legally blind; this did not stop her from engaging in daily life with her friends and many pets. She and her roommate, Miss Janet Chappell had spent 57 years caring for one another. They were devoted to their animals, community and volunteered with Another Chance Rescue in No. Berwick for several years.
During their younger years, they were known to have friends and neighbors over for dinner and were delighted to use their game room downstairs; which had a pool table and air hockey game. Their house was full of music, books, board games and endless cups of coffee.
A special thank you to George Matthews and his family, for being available 24/7 – that allowed both Janet and Janice to age gracefully in the comfort of their home. That’s what neighbors do. . .
Janice was predeceased by her siblings.
Janice and Janet will be buried together at Hope Cemetery later this spring.
The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
