Joanne M. (Robbins) Wheeler, 79, of Sanford, went to be with her husband, “Billy” she passed away peacefully on March 26, 2019, at the Newton Center in Sanford with her son Ron by her side.
Joanne was born on April 29, 1939, in Lewiston, the daughter of Danville and Agnes (Foster) Robbins. Joanne was raised in Livermore Falls, where she met and married the love of her life, William “Bill” Wheeler, whom she married on September 14, 1959. They were blessed with two sons, Ron and Russell and daughter Rhonda.
Joanne had a respected career at Central Maine Medical Center where she obtained her nursing degree and worked as a Registered Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse. Joanne also worked at the Farmington Hospital and other various geriatric nursing facilities and home health care.
Her many hobbies and interests included cooking, knitting, camping, exploring lighthouses, and music. Joanne loved to have a good party and was a wonderful host as she held many a Tupperware, Wheaton ware, or beeline party. Also, Joanne had a passion for Avon and represented them as a top seller and a Presidential Club Award winner for many years.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 54 years, William Wheeler and their daughter, Rhonda M. (Wheeler) Doiron.
Joanne is survived by her two sons Ron Wheeler of Wells and Russell T. Wheeler of Manchester; grandchildren, Jason M. Doiron of Manchester and Amanda M. Fournier and husband Brian of Arizona; her great-grandchildren, Brent, Aaron, and Breawna Fournier all of Arizona; her half-brother, Gary Robbins and wife Laurie of North Anson; her step-mother, Gertrude Robbins of North Anson and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
At Joanne’s request, her service and burial will be private.
