August 28, 1954 - October 31, 2019
A Graveside Service will be planned in the spring.
Steven Folsom recently of Biddeford, Maine passed away unexpectedly Oct 31, 2019. He was a loving son, brother and father. Resident at Biddeford Estates where his family is blessed he was able to receive care in the past several years.
Steve was born August 28, 1954 in Rochester, NY to Bruce Dalton Folsom and Louise Ida (Powers) Folsom. He grew up and graduated from high school in Honeoye Falls, NY. Steve attended the University of Maine and majored in forestry. While at UMO he was an active member in the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and had ample opportunity to further develop his passion for downhill skiing. Steve influenced many to join the sport of skiing and there was not a person on the ski hill who could not spot him by his technical and sometimes controlled recklessness. His eldest daughter was especially lucky to be one of those he influenced and who inherited some of those traits. His younger brother often was chasing after him in a more controlled manner, but picking up tips and skills none the less.
Following graduation Steve never left Maine and made it his home. He initially worked in the ski industry at several ski shops and also did wood stove installations. Eventually Steve turned to his other passion of construction and custom home building. He developed a successful business specializing in insulated concrete form homes.
When he wasn’t working or skiing in the winter or waterskiing in the summer Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating on Mousam Lake where his family had a camp.
Steve is predeceased by his father Bruce and mother Louise. He is survived by step-mother Mary Dumas of Alfred, his younger brother David Folsom of Standish, his eldest daughter Sara Folsom of Eugene, Oregon and youngest daughter Christie Folsom of Palo Alto, California. Steve is also survived by and will be missed by his two former wives he remained close friends with, Elizabeth Bell-Folsom of Oakland, Maine and Deborah Johnson Folsom of Shapleigh, Maine.
Gifts of remembrance can be made to the Richard H Bell Interfaith Chapel at Sugarloaf Ski Resort. Please contact David or Sara for further information.
The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
