A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., in Sanford.
Carl J Armstrong, 83, of Sanford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December
12th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born in Lynnfield, Massachusetts on
August 8th, 1936. He was the son of the late Samuel and Myrtle Hayward Armstrong.
Carl was raised in Lynnfield and was the youngest of six, he was preceded in death by his
sister Myrtle and four brothers, Samuel, Alfred, Donald, and John. He worked for the
Lynnfield water district and The Department of Public Works in Wakefield before moving
to Maine, where he lived out his life.
Carl was looked up to for his mechanical knowledge and possessed a great love for antique
cars. People would frequently go to him for advice, friendly conversation and a plethora of
laughter and jokes. He was never one to judge and believed highly in loving yourself. He
was always willing to lend an ear and offer a different perspective. He loved his Rolls Royce,
dancing and listening to Johnny Cash.
He was very much a family man, his favorite saying was “Here I am, father of nine, I would
have had more but I didn’t have time.” His children’s friends typically called him “Old Man”
but he always referred to himself as “The King”.
Carl is survived by his wife of sixty years, Priscilla Armstrong along with their nine children,
Daughter Carla and husband Mark of Kennebunk, son Kevin and wife Laurie of Sanford,
Son Keith of Kennebunk, Daughter Louise and husband Jeff of Springvale, Daughter
Patricia and husband John of Florida, Daughter Mary and husband Rod of Jay, Daughter
Eileen and husband Ray of Sanford, Son David and wife Cynthia of Kennebunk and
Daughter Emma and husband Daniel of Garland. He was also survived by 22
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

at 11 am.
