A Celebration of Ron's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11 - 3 p.m. at 152 Sweet's Bridge Road in Alfred.
Ronald P. Stackpole, 68, a longtime resident of Kennebunk, passed peacefully on March 1, 2020, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Ron was surrounded in love by his family.
Ronald was born on June 9, 1951, in Biddeford, the son of Norman W. and Barbara J. (Emmons) Stackpole.
Ron was a hard worker his whole life and began a 31-year career with the Maine Turnpike Authority and then delivered ice for the Getchell Brothers Ice Company in Sanford. He was a team player and was available to work overtime to make sure the Naples and Sebago region got their deliveries for the “summer people.” It was during this job that he got the nickname, “Ice Man” and he serviced all through-out New England.
Ronald married Donna M. Goodwin 16 years ago and nurtured and loved their large blended family of children, grandchildren, and many pets. Ron and Donna were members of the Saco Grange 53 and helped during their bean suppers. Each year they would put on a big Easter egg hunt for the kids. This past Christmas, Ron was Santa at the Breakfast with Santa day. He loved hearing the kid’s stories and it warmed his heart to know they still believed in the ‘magic of Christmas.’ Ron enjoyed going fishing and hunting when he was younger. He was content to be home and working on small engines. You would never find Ron without his dog and constant companion by his side, Dawson.
Ron will be dearly missed by his family, his siblings and many friends. He has now entered into eternal peace.
Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Stackpole; his children Norman Stackpole, Richard Stackpole, Ronald J. Stackpole and Summer Cavallaro; his stepchildren, Cassandra Norwald, Amy Tufts Brown and Kayla Tufts; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Mona Lemelin, Chet Stackpole, Geraldine Bucklin, Gloria “Chipper” Duncan and Rebecca Tufts.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Norma and June Martel.
A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11 – 3 p.m. at 152 Swett’s Bridge Road in Alfred.
