Muriel Mae Gile, age 78, peacefully passed away on April 8, 2020 in her home, surrounded by her family. Muriel was born on September 23, 1941 in Sanford, Maine as the eldest daughter to the late George and Gertrude (Farwell) Fletcher. She attended Sanford High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Keith Randall Gile of Alfred, Maine.
Keith and Muriel were wed on May 29, 1960 and spent almost 60 years together raising three children, which led to 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind a loving sister Carole Allen of Alfred, Maine and was predeceased by her brother Richard Fletcher of Springvale, Maine.
Among those whom she touched and will miss her greatly; daughter Kerry and son-in-law Lysle Burrows of Alfred, Maine, son David and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Gile, of Alfred, Maine, and daughter Debra and son-in-law Larry O’Donnell, of Mendon, Massachusetts.
The grandchildren, who were the light of her life include Kevin Knight and wife Amie, Ellen Lamb and husband CJ, Jill McKenney and husband Joe, Thomas Knight and wife Kiana, Isaiah Knight and wife Samantha, Marissa MacLeod and husband Jay, Matthew Gile, Daniel Gile, Alex Gile, Zoe O’Donnell, and Jack O’Donnell.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Muriel was a creative soul. Her passion was crafting; she loved sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidery and painting. She loved picking blueberries with her Mom on the ledges, coffee/tea time every morning with her sister Carole, rock-hunting on the beach, and playing endless games of Scrabble. A friend to everyone she met; she whole-heartedly immersed herself in her church, her community, and her neighborhood. Her favorite place to be was with Keith, their dog Keeper, and all her family at their camp in Aziscohos Lake Maine. We will miss her to the Moon and Back…and then some.
Funeral services will not be held at this time. When we can safely all come together again, we will celebrate her life and surround ourselves in her spirit.
The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
