Karen E. Ruel, 56, a resident of Sanford, died peacefully on October 13, 2020 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Karen was born in Portland on December 31, 1963, the daughter of John B. and Prudence A. (Thompson) Quint. She was raised in North Berwick and attended local schools.
Karen possessed a special kindness and generous spirit towards people and animals. She loved and nurtured her Pitbull/Roti mix “Psycho” and “Copper” her Char-pei dog, who needed extra care and love.
Karen lived in Rhode Island for about eight years with her friend, Bill, and they were well suited as a couple. They balanced each other out and shared in life’s simple pleasures together. They recently moved back to Maine in 2015.
Bill shared that Karen was gifted with a “green thumb” and could make any plant or flowers spring to life after they had become wilted.
Karen was a fun person to be with. She smiled easily and always put others needs before her own.
Karen will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She has entered into eternal peace and will be forever loved.
She is lovingly survived by her parents, John and Prudence Quint of Alfred; her daughter Danielle Ruel of Milford, NH; her brother Peter Quint of North Berwick and her companion and fiancée William (Bill) Tilley of Sanford; and several nieces and one nephew.
A private memorial service will be held and she will be buried at Oakdale Cemetery in the family lot.
