E. Louise Knight, 94, a longtime resident of Springvale, died peacefully on January 4, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, with her family by her side.

Louise was born on July 9, 1926 in Portland, the daughter of Fred D. and Ethel (Binford) Wade.

She attended Deering High School and Northeastern Business School. On April 26, 1947 Louise married her soulmate and sweetheart, Harold W. (Mike) Knight, Jr. They lived in Springvale where they raised their two children, Bonnie, and Bruce.

Louise was an active member of North Parish Congregational Church and volunteered for many activities throughout her years there. She believed in giving back to her community and was a member of the Ruth Chapter Eastern Star # 14 of Springvale, and the Grand Cross of Color Rainbow Girls # 7 of Sanford. Louise also belonged to the Shrine Ladies Helping Hands of York County and the 50 Plus Club.

Both Louise and Mike enjoyed being active members of the (N.C.T.) National Camping Travelers of Maine and New Hampshire. Traveling to different parts of New England with the Kora Campers and Good Sam Club Chickadees Chapters; gave them memories of a lifetime with their family and ever-growing circle of friends.

No one was ever a stranger to Mom. She greeted everyone she passed with a smile and drew most people into a conversation. No one could leave her house without first sitting down for a cup of coffee and cookies, and often was sent home with a plate full of food for supper.

Louise was a talented sewer and knitter. She made clothes, draperies and sweaters, and other knitted items for family and friends. With her ever-present smile and sunny disposition, it was never hard to be in her company. When you became her friend, you were a friend for life.

She is now once again reunited with her husband Mike and we know she is at peace. We will miss you Mom and you will never be far from our hearts.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Bonnie Knight Loiseau and husband Robert of Southbury, CT; son Bruce Knight and wife Karen of Sanford, Maine; and her grandchildren, Matthew Loiseau and wife Alison of Woodbury, CT; Eileen Loiseau Koch and husband Bradley of Brookfield, CT; and Christopher Knight of Sanford, Maine and Timothy Knight of Portland, Maine; her great-grandchildren, Savannah Knight (Christopher) and Nathan and Julia Koch, and Theodore, Josephine, and Isabelle Loiseau.

A Memorial Service will be held later at her church when it is safe to gather and celebrated her long and full life. Committal prayers and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery.

In her memory, please consider donating to the Abiding Memorial @ North Parish Congregational Church, 893 Main St., Sanford, ME 04073.
