Service Date:

A private service will be held later.

Louella Jane Goodrich, 74, who was called Jane by her family and friends, passed peacefully on January 12, 2021 at the Hyder Hospice House in Dover, New Hampshire.

Jane was born on September 29, 1946 in Woodstock, Virginia, the daughter of Carl M. and Geneva K. (Finks) Sweeney.

Jane attended Tennessee Temple Christian College where she obtained a teaching degree for kindergarten up to second grade. With her warm and gentle personality, she was a perfect fit for her youngster’s in her care.

Jane married John Goodrich on April 22, 1972 and they were blessed with two daughters, Gena, and Heidi.

Jane and John lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for many years and they enjoyed walking on the beach most Sundays. She would even accompany John on his fishing excursions, just to spent time with him. Jane enjoyed a night out playing Bingo with her girlfriends and did a variety of crafts, including knitting.

John and Jane moved to New England in 1984. As a family they enjoyed camping at Baxter Lake at the Grandview Campground. Many memories were made with lots of laughter. Jane loved her grandchildren and was a great presence in their daily lives. Jane loved taking her family to see the family farm in Virginia where she taught them how to play golf in the pasture – with a “cow pattie” being a hole in one! They also learned how to drive a tractor with a clutch – No automatic steering either!

Jane never said a bad word against anyone, and she wore her heart on her sleeve. Her family was taught by her example of protecting people and stepping up to help them – and never expecting anything in return. She was a devoted wife and mother and her grandchildren put a spark of light and love in her heart each time she saw them. We will miss her dearly and love her forever.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of almost 49 years. John Goodrich, her two daughters, Gena Lyn Becker, and Heidi Jo Ogg, her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (with one on the way!) and her two brothers, Joe Sweeney, and Charles Milton.

A private service will be held later.

In her memory, please consider a donating to the Riverside Rest Home or Hyder Hospice @ 276 County Farm Rd., Dover, NH 03820.

The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
