Laura was born on May 26, 1918 in Gorham, New Hampshire, the daughter of David O. and Annie J. (Williamson) Holmes.

She attended schools there and graduated from Gorham High School. Laura married her soulmate and husband, Ralph Wood in 1940. They were blessed with a daughter Sally and son Thomas. She and her husband always worked together, and they operated a restaurant while making their home in Gorham, NH. Laura belonged to Eastern Star and was a Past Noble Grand of Ideal Rebecca Lodge of Gorham, NH.

After moving to Alfred, Maine she was a former member with the Alfred Parish Church, Past President of A. AM. Club and was a Den Mother of Boy Scouts, and former member of the Massabesic Lioness Club. Laura and Ralph owned and operated a Real Estate office in Alfred and developed and ran Bunganut Lake Campground for 10 years before selling it.

Laura loved to knit and sew for relaxation. She made wonderful pies with flaky pie crust that quickly became a family favorite. She was the consummate hostess and loved entertaining at the lake and family gatherings. Laura and Ralph traveled in their RV across country, meeting many new friends and sharing photos and many memories with their family. A special day was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at their home on the lake and dancing to the greats of the Big Band Era, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Laura has been reunited with her loving husband Ralph, her parents and two sisters, Mariah Webber and Barbara Church and has entered eternal peace.

She will be dearly missed by her family and we will cherish our many memories of happy times at the lake.
