Eleanor M. Tardie, wife, mother, nana, and sister passed peacefully on March 20,2021 with her son Don and his wife, Mary by her side.

Eleanor was the only one of her brothers and sisters born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 4, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Fredrick E. Jefferson and Martha A. (Crocker) Jefferson, formally from Nova Scotia, Canada. The family lived in Massachusetts and did briefly live in Lebanon Maine when Eleanor was a young child.

Eleanor Jefferson married Arthur E. Tardie on May 17, 1945 in Brockton, Massachusetts. They had five children, Arthur, Robert, Donald, Lee, and Ann. Arthur and Eleanor had a business called Tardie’s Last Restyling in Easton, Massachusetts where they resided.

The business started in their home and moved to a building beside their home. Eleanor worked in the last business and did the bookkeeping. She also worked as a cook for her sister’s Marjorie and Hazel at We Own It and for her brother, Johnnie at Jeff’s on 27.

She is remembered by her family for hosting many big family reunions, especially the Fourth of July.  She loved to cook for her family and made her famous bread. Eleanor also loved to play cards and dice games with her brothers, sisters and many friends.  Eleanor in her younger years competed in figure skating competitions.

In 1988 Arthur and Eleanor moved to Waterboro Maine to enjoy country life and peacefulness.

Eleanor loved to do crafts, ceramics, crocheting, and making gifts for her family. Eleanor also loved to go fishing with her sister Marjorie.  She traveled with her husband Art, to her family’s birthplace in Nova Scotia visiting relatives.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Arthur Tardie, son Arthur Tardie Jr. and son Robert Tardie. She is also predeceased by her brother, John Jefferson, brother Ernest Jefferson, sister Hazel (Jefferson) Madan, sister Marjorie (Jefferson) White, brother Wilfred Jefferson and brother Walter Jefferson.

Eleanor is survived by her sister Helen Zampi who is 105 years old, son Donald Tardie, wife Mary Tardie, daughter Lee Macnamara Tardie and daughter Ann Goodreau and husband James Goodreau.  Also, she is survived by her daughter in law Beverly Tardie, wife of the late Arthur Tardie Jr and Paula McDonald Tardie, wife of the late Robert Tardie. She has 6 grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held during the summer.
