John P. (Jean Paul) Fournier passed away on March 6 at the age of 89. He was born in Biddeford in 1931 to Edmund and Leonie Fournier. He spent much of his life in Biddeford and later moved to homes on Mousam Lake and then Square Pond in Acton. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Louis High School. After high school, he trained as a structural steel draftsman. He worked for over 20 years at Bancroft and Martin Steel Company in South Portland.
In 1979, he started his own business—John Fournier Detailing—which he ran for 31 years. He retired in 2010. He was married to Patricia (Smith) Fournier. He was then married to Claudette (Remillard) Fournier until her death in November 2020. He was a devoted father who took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and his grandchildren. He was skilled at carpentry and spent many hours with saw and hammer in hand renovating, remodeling, tinkering, and improving his homes. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time at the lake. He logged countless hours pulling kids around on water skis and even more quietly cruising around the lake on summer evenings. He also loved his yearly birthday excursion to the Acton Fair for his chicken livers.
He is survived by son Eric Fournier (Kathy) of St. Louis, MO and daughter Jane Archambault (Dan) of Acton Maine and grandchildren, Cole and Caspar Fournier, Tobi (Peck) and Wesley Perry and Jacquelyn and Emily Archambault.
