A funeral service for Kathy will be held on June 16, 2021 at the New Life Church, 551 Alfred Street, in Biddeford at 2:00 p.m.

Kathy Proto, 59, of Waterboro died unexpectedly on June 8th, 2021, surrounded in love by her family, at Maine Medical Center.

Kathy was born on October 15, 1961, in Sanford, the daughter of Robert Precourt and Fay Haberland.

Kathy was a graduate of Sanford High School in 1980. Kathy married her husband Raymond Proto on January 9, 1982. Kathy was a loving and supportive mother to two daughters.  Throughout Kathy’s life she held many different jobs, but her passion was homeschooling her daughters and even her grandsons over the past few years. Kathy was always there for her kids and never missed an event for her grandsons.  Kathy loved being a grandmother and spent as much time as possible making memories with all of her grandsons. One of her favorite ways to spend the day was outside her lake house floating in a tube with her family.

Kathy volunteered at the local woman’s crisis hotline for years. Helping multiple women get out of abusive situations. Kathy was also involved in numerous other charities both locally and internationally that supported woman and children in need. Kathy was a missionary in both India and Israel.

Kathy attended New Life Church and Curtis Lake Church with her husband. She spent countless hours teaching bible study groups and mentoring woman. She has now been called to her eternal home in Heaven and is at peace. Kathy and Ray enjoyed 39 years of marriage before her passing.

Kathy is predeceased by her mother, Fay Haberland, and stepfather, Robert Haberland.

Kathy is lovingly survived by her husband, Ray Proto and her children, Ashley Letourneau and husband, Joshua Letourneau; and Bethany Dymond.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adrien Letourneau, Dylan Dymond, Devin Dymond, and her three sisters Robin Watson, Lori Guertin, Terri Crosby and her Husband Russ Crosby, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 16, 2021, at 2:00pm at New Life Church in Biddeford.
