Delwin E. Flood, Sr

April 18, 1936 - June 14, 2021

U.S. Veteran

Service Date: June 22, 2021

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.

Delwin (Del) Flood, Sr.,  was born April 18th, 1936 and died on June 14th 2021 after a brief illness.

Del was an Air Force veteran who served his country during the Korean conflict and was a lifetime member of the AMVETS and V.F.W. of Sanford.

Del worked construction his whole life, working for himself and various other companies, including Brown construction in Portland Maine which he worked for over 20 years.

After retiring in 1997 Del quickly became known as one of the best handymen in the area which kept him busy doing what he truly loved, woodworking and carpentry.

Those who knew him best, knew they would find him in his little shed, “making saw dust.”

He also enjoyed making whirligigs, quilt racks, custom furniture, and toys for the children in the family.

Del accomplished a lot in his life but there was nothing more important to him than his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and loyal husband.

He was a man of few words and very straightforward… you always knew where you stood with Del.

Predeceased by his parents and five siblings.

He was survived by his wife of 22 years Cheryl Flood; his sister Barbara Berube of Biddeford; five sons Walter and his wife Julie of Hollis; James of Springvale; Edward of Wells; Delwin Jr. and his partner Jay of Springvale; and Dwayne of Springvale; one stepson, Jeremy Bourque, and his wife Suzanne; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.

A celebration of Del’s life will be held at the AMVETS of Sanford following his graveside service.
