Fred R. Morrill, Sr., 91, a longtime resident of Springvale, died on June 24, 2021, at Evergreen Rehabilitation and Living Center in Saco.
Fred was born at home in Acton on October 19, 1929, the son of Harry E. and Phyllis L. (Grant) Morrill.

Fred was known by his family and friends by his nickname “Red Fox”. He was a truck driver who worked for Albee Moving and Storage in Wolfeboro, NH, and Atlas Van Line, driving east of the Mississippi. He drove for DiPrizio of Middleton, NH up and down the East coast. Fred stayed in touch with his fellow trucking friends on his CB radio.

Fred was a Mason with the Unity Lodge No. 62 F&AM in Union, NH for over 30 years and was immensely proud to belong to the Kora Shriners Temple in Lewiston, Maine. For many years, Fred was a foster parent and brought children into his home and heart.
Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing for brook trout and entertaining with family and friends. He relished a good game of cribbage and “3 card poker”. Fred and his companion, Joanne took many trips through-out their years together. They enjoyed Branson, Missouri, Myrtle Beach in So. Carolina, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, California, Georgia and Florida.

Fred was a member of the Lafayette Club for over 67 years.

Fred will be remembered for his work ethic, his sense of humor and his willingness to help others.

He is survived by his son, Fred Morrill, Jr., sister Goldie Kent and brother Donald Morrill; his foster son Michael Woodrow, and his longtime companion Joanne Bellman and her three daughters, Tamara S. Bellman, Terri L. Azar and Tova A. Ney; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by two sons, Stewart, and Robert Morrill.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
