Elizabeth (Betty)(Duplessis) Dudley 66, long time resident of Sanford Maine passed away after a brief illness on August 30, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 20, 1954, to Rudolph and Rita (Leavit) Duplessis in Manchester NH, Betty was one of nine children.

She met and fell in love with her husband Richard in high school and enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Together they have two children Lynn (Dudley) DeWolf (girlfriend Trisha Merrill) and Jason Dudley (wife Jennifer (Allaire) Dudley). She spent her life as a homemaker and stay at home mom where she babysat many children.

Her grandchildren Jaysie (DeWolf) Walsh (husband Alex Walsh), Nathan DeWolf, Lauren Dugre (husband Lucas Dugre), Eryn Dudley and Emma-Jeanne Dudley were the pride of her life. Between extracurricular activities and sports, she could always be found in the stands cheering them on. She was affectionately known as Mammie by her grandchildren and to the many children who were loved by her.

She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, contagious laugh and sense of humor, and her endless practical jokes. Some of her famous jokes include throwing the neighborhood kids’ shoes on the roof, eating the crème fillings out of the Oreos and replacing the filling of an éclair with mustard. She was always up for a water, snowball, or food fight. And if there was a puddle nearby you can bet someone was getting splashed. The grandchildren all remember Mammie adding sprinkles on their vegetables at Bonanza to make them “taste better” and that she was forever wearing flip flops (even in winter)!

Betty had many hobbies over the years including but not limited to photography, scrap booking, paper crafts, and NASCAR, but her favorite was knitting and crochet. She was known for making and donating hundreds of hats and pairs of mittens.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

At Betty’s request there are no services planned at this time.
