Lea A. Gobeil, 94, a longtime resident of East Waterboro, died peacefully with her family by her side on November 23, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
Lea was born in Sherbrooke, Canada on December 4, 1926, the daughter of Alcide and Albina (Ducharme) Corbeil. Her family moved to the United States when she was an infant.
Lea worked at John Roberts Suit Coats manufacturing as a presser where her attention to detail became her signature style. She worked well into her 60’s before she decided to retire from her full-time job.
Lea was a talented and gifted quilter, seamstress and made beautiful needlework pieces that she displayed and sold at the Oldtimers Shop in Sanford. Lea made many of her own clothes and special ties for her husband Robert. Lea and Robert were married in 1979 at St. Phillips Church in Lyman where they were active parishioners. Their faith was the cornerstone of their life together.
Together they traveled in their motor home throughout the United States where many memories were made from their trips to Italy, Germany and cruising the Caribbean Islands and discovering the heritage of Mexico. They made their home in East Waterboro and enjoyed dancing together at the American Legion Hall.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. We find comfort knowing she has entered into eternal rest.
Lea is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Gobeil of East Waterboro; her daughter Diane Boissonneault of Sanford; two sons Maurice Cadorette and wife Betty of Biddeford and Richard Cadorette of East Waterboro; her stepchildren: Richard Gobeil, Nancy Hurley, Elizabeth Wyman, and Robert D. Gobeil; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Alderic, Ulysses, Maurice, Albert, and Aline.
