Forrest G. Dart, Jr., 77, a longtime resident of Acton, passed peacefully with his family by his side, on November 24, 2021.

Forrest was born on November 15, 1944 in Biddeford, the son of Forrest and Mary F. (Allen) Dart, Sr.

He was raised in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School, Class of 1963. Following his graduation, he traveled to Fort Dix to start his military commitment with the US Army.

Forrest met the love his life, Beverly Letourneau, in 1964 and they married on November 27, 1965 sharing 56 years of marriage and raising four children.

Forrest worked as a rigger with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and retired after 25 years. He found that second shift was a better fit to his busy schedule and enjoyed cutting firewood and did so up until a couple of years ago. He and his family went to their camp in Greenville every summer and he loved hunting with his wife Bev and the boys and Jeff. He also enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Forrest felt any chores around the house could be done with many hands, and always had a project for them to work on. When he did discipline the kids, he would always go back to them in an hour or so and say, “Okay Buddy?!”

Forrest belonged to the Elks, Lafayette Club, American Legion, and the Wolves Club all in Sanford. He loved playing pool and had a table at his home. He taught all the kids and grandchildren how to play cribbage and read his daily newspaper each morning, starting with the obituary page, next the cartoons and finally doing the crossword puzzles and jumbos.

He and Bev traveled to Las Vegas several times and enjoyed the bright lights and atmosphere with like minded folks playing the slots! They took a trip to Alaska with another couple and explored the vast wilderness and cruised among the ice caps. But he was always happy to come home to their special place on Loon Pond.

Forrest will be missed by his family and his many friends. He has entered into eternal rest and is once again with his son, Douglas, who passed on September 29, 2021.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Beverly Dart of Acton; daughter Sheila Pillsbury and Rebecca Coleman his son Michael Dart, and eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and his faithful and trusting dog Rusty.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred. We kindly ask those coming to the calling hours, please wear a mask.

The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
