A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. when a prayer service will be held at the Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak St., in Alfred, Maine.
Dorothy G Dugas (Dottie), 94, died on Dec 6, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine with loving family by her side after a period of failing health. Mrs. Dugas made her home in North Waterboro.
Dorothy was born in Biddeford, Maine on Sept 28,1927 the daughter of the late Aldeus and Rosilda (Gervais)Parenteau. Dorothy was the youngest of seven children and educated in the Biddeford school system. She worked in the mills in the Biddeford area during the war years.
After the war, Dorothy married Leandre J. Dugas on Sept 18, 1948 in her hometown of Biddeford. They were married for 37 years before his death in 1985. After 10 years living in the Biddeford area, they bought a house and moved to Lawrence, Mass where she lived until 1987.
Dorothy moved back to her beloved Maine after retiring from AT&T Technology in Andover, Mass where she worked as a bench hand for many years as a solderer.
Dorothy was an active member of Saint Matthews Parish in Limerick and where she volunteered in the food pantry for many years.
Dorothy traveled all over during her retirement and enjoyed bus trips with her friends. She loved to play bingo and was on a bowling league until her late 80’s. She was an avid reader and always had a jigsaw puzzle going on her kitchen table. Dorothy loved her soap operas especially General Hospital. She enjoyed playing computer games on her computer.
Being the animal lover that she was, Dottie always made sure that the bird feeders were full, and suet put out. She threw out special treats and peanuts for her chipmunks and spoiled squirrels. Dorothy was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Celtics fan and if a game were on, no one could call her as she would not miss any of the game. She loved visits with her family and her children’s dogs Morgan and Sophie.
Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Leandre, her sisters Aurea, Rita, Cora, and Dinah. Her brothers Fernand and Paul Parenteau and her son-in-law George Lacourciere.
She is survived by her four children, Rachel Lacourciere of Boynton Beach, Florida; Marlene Maynard and husband Roy of Waterboro, Maine; Paul Dugas and wife Donna of Sanford, Maine; and Elaine Boie and husband Glenn of Goffstown, NH.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Eric Lacourciere (Sonja), Brian Lacourciere (Robin), David Lacourciere (Kim), Adam Maynard, Nicole Ramirez (Max), Corey Boie (Macaela), Renee Dugas, Cory Gallant and Blaine Gallant. Several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the excellent care they gave her during her stay there.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak Street, Alfred, Maine.

A Graveside Committal will be held in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
