Kevin Blake McCormick, 69, a longtime resident of Alfred, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Kevin was born on August 16, 1952 in Wilmington, Massachusetts the son of Donald and Rita (Maxwell) McCormick.

He was a graduate of the UMass/Lowell and worked for over 26 years as a corrections officer at the York County Jail in Alfred. Kevin was a parishioner of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish/Holy Family Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Kevin had known his current wife for over 20 years, April, as she worked in human resources for the County. Following the loss of their respective spouses, they found their hearts were open to love and companionship again.

Kevin was known for his generosity, smiling face and being a jokester. For his siblings and friends, he was the protective “Big Brother” as well a father figure to youngsters. He was “tough as nails” yet was a softy when it came to his family and animals. He and April enjoyed making their home a warm and welcoming place. They did outside projects together as April tended to the beautiful rose bushes while Kevin mowed the lawn with his riding mower.

Kevin was a dyed in the wool New England sports fan, especially the New England Patriots. He and April enjoyed a day at Fenway Park watching the Red Sox. They liked exploring Bar Harbor, attending Billy Joel concerts, and seeing the Eagles perform.

Kevin loved reading books on the Civil War, President Lincoln, and historical novels. He was very patriotic and enjoyed the comradery of spending time at the Social Club in Springvale.

We will miss your smile, bear hugs and the light and love your brought into our lives.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of one year, April McCormick of Alfred; children Theresa Pelletier of Shapleigh and Denise Longfellow of Illinois; siblings Dianna Crone of Mass; Linda McCormick of Vermont and Donald McCormick of ME; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
